HCPSS Attendance Policy 9010 states: "The school must receive a note from the parent or physician explaining the absence/tardiness of a student within two school days of the student's return or the absence/tardiness will be unlawful/unexcused.   Emancipated students as defined in Policy 9000 (Student Residency, Eligibility, Enrollment and Assignment) may be allowed to write their own notes to verify a lawful absence.  When a doctor's certification for chronic illness has been required and not provided within two days of the student's return, the absence/tardiness will be recorded as unlawful/unexcused until a doctor's certificate is provided."
