Celebration of Black History and Women

Mon, 03/18/2019 - 9:54am

On Wednesday, March 26th SFES will host an evening of celebration honoring the contributions of African Americans and women in history.  Students will be showcasing different prominent figures and events that have had a role in developing our nation and history.

We are excited to share that on the night of this event we will also be hosting a local author Katrina Denise, as part of our Black History/Women's History Program.  She has been a writer and educator for over fifteen years. Her children's book, The Message in the Mirror, is an inspiring and vibrant book for everyone! Katrina Denise wrote this book because she believes that all children possess unique characteristics that make them one of a kind. The book encourages children to see that beauty and power is more than skin deep. It also focuses on helping students discover that there is strength in having a positive self-image.  Link to more about the book, Message in the Mirror: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32868587-the-message-in-the-mirror

We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of Katrina Denise’s book, The Message In The Mirror. The books are being sold to SFES students at a discounted cost of just $10 (paperback) and $14 (hardcover). Each book purchased using the order form will be autographed and given to students on March 26, at the event, or on March 27, if they do not attend the program.

Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to add to your home library, or purchase a gift for friends or family.

Please email Mrs. Albright (tracey_albright@hcpss.org) if you are interested in purchasing a book or print and send in the order form.
