Indoor Environmental Quality Inspection

Thu, 06/06/2019 - 2:14pm

On June 4, 2019, school staff requested an assessment of a portable occupied by a fourth grade classroom by the HCPSS Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Office.  The students received instruction in another classroom for the remainder of the day and the HCPSS Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Office responded and assessed the room on June 4, 2019.

Upon inspections, mold growth was identified behind the drywall of a portable while investigating an IEQ concern. It was determined that the cause of the mold growth is likely due to a leaking door and/or roof.

A board-approved restoration contractor will be scheduled to perform the mold remediation services, and the cause of the leak will be further assessed when the drywall is removed. Students and staff will not be occupying the portable until after the leak is rectified and the remediation services are completed.

As part of the IEQ process, information about Indoor Environmental Quality is posted on our school website at https://ieq.hcpss.org/facilities/stevens-forest-elementary-school. Details about the HCPSS IEQ program is provided at
