Students are learning to identify our “triggers” and “sparks.” Triggers are situations that cause us to be less regulated. A trigger is an unwelcome event/situation that causes us to have uncomfortable feelings. Whether it’s anger, worry, sadness, or panic, this may cause us to change Zones. A spark is a welcome event that causes us stronger feelings on the positive spectrum, such as joy, excitement, or silliness; even positive events can change our Zones. When we have awareness of our triggers and sparks, we are ready to regulate. It also enables others to understand and support each other. See more about how to help your child identify those triggers or sparks at home by clicking this link or finding the Zones Bridge in their Friday Folder.
