From the Principal

It’s hard to believe it’s already November. Where has the time gone? Report cards will be coming home on November 14. This is a great opportunity to reflect on your child’s achievements and set goals with them. We look forward to seeing our families at the special events that lie ahead in November: American Education Week and Parent Conferences.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences offer a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your child’s educational progress and to partner with the school. The upcoming November conferences will be held with your child’s ELA teacher. The dates will be November 19-21.

The conference sign up window will be open from November 9 until Sunday, November 18 at 5:00pm. Please call the front office, if you need further assistance. A message including the sign- up link will be sent out by November 5.

As always, please feel free to reach out to any of your child’s teachers, if you would like to meet outside of the fall conference window. Conferences/meetings can always be scheduled at any time during the year as needed.

Parent-Teacher Conference Tips:

Think about what you want to learn from the conference. Prepare questions:

  • How is my child doing in class?
  • Does s/he use time well?
  • Good work habits?
  • Does s/he usually turn in homework?
  • Are there missing assignments?
  • How well does s/he get along with others?
  • What can I do at home to support what you are doing?

Talk with your child. Ask what s/he thinks the teacher will say. Ask if s/he has any concerns. Talk about likes, dislikes, problems, and successes.

Ask the teacher to explain anything you don’t understand.

Be prepared to talk and to listen. Tell the teacher what you see at home. Talk about your child’s interests. Be sure to let the teacher know about anything that might affect your child’s learning.

Follow up. Stay in touch with the teacher. If you think of a question you didn’t ask, write a note.
