A Message from Mrs. Carter

Tue, 07/02/2019 - 7:40pm

Dear SFES Families,

Happy Summer!  I hope this message finds you well.

My name is Katie Carter, and I wanted to take this opportunity to briefly introduce myself and share my excitement to be returning to the Stevens Forest community as Assistant Principal.

I began my teaching career in Loudoun County, Virginia then moved to the Howard County Public School System. During my career here in Howard County, I was an Instructional Team Leader and fifth grade teacher at Stevens Forest Elementary School, an Elementary Mathematics Support Teacher at Atholton, Gorman Crossing, Hammond, and Pointers Run Elementary Schools, and Assistant Principal at Veterans Elementary School.

When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, who is an elementary instrumental music teacher in HCPSS, our two sons, and our chocolate labrador retriever.  As a family we love sports, music, and cooking.

I look forward to partnering with Dr. Smith to serve the students, staff, and community of Stevens Forest. As the summer progresses, we will provide an opportunity for students and families to visit Dr. Smith and myself before the school year officially begins.  In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have any questions, have items you would like to discuss, or just to say “hello”. My door is always open. I can be reached at 410-313-6900 or by email at kathleen_carter@hcpss.org

I look forward to meeting each of you!

Katie Carter, Assistant Principal
Stevens Forest Elementary
